The Women in AI Security Workshop is organised by the Alan Turing Institute’s Defence AI Research (DARe) Centre, as part of their work on Vulnerabilities, Deception and Disinformation. The event will showcase prominent female researchers working in AI security, safety, governance, and cyber adjacent fields, bringing together experts across government, academia and industry.

I was invited to present on my research and discuss dark patterns as a form of hostile cognitive scaffolding.

I was invited to participate in the Committee for Children Workshop alongside experts from various disciplines across academia and industry. The event was a part of Linacre’s Junior Research Fellowship programme focusing on AI and social and emotional wellbeing.

As the only student on a select panel of AI experts at Oxford, I was invited to share my insights on the challenges of balancing the potential benefits of AI against the possible harms to society.

I was invited to join a select panel of scholars and Googlers to produce a set of responsible and ethical recommendations regarding Gen(erative) AI. The workshop was a collaborative effort between Google Research/Responsible Innovation and the Graziano Lab at Princeton University. We reflected on the nature and processes of human creativity, and how GenAI may affect, and ideally support it.

I was invited to join a select panel of experts from academia and industry to exchange views on using responsible innovation to advance a vision of AI that is empowering, meaningful, and beneficial. We practised using a combination of RI methods (e.g., design fiction, speculative design, and Google’s own techno-moral scenario approach) to imaginatively and reflexively engage with ethical concerns regarding new technologies.
